Interest in the NFL in the UK and Ireland really started when Channel 4 were the first to broadcast it with their weekly TV programme, back in 1982.
Even with the unavoidable (yet still very inconvenient) time difference between the two regions, the NFL has now established itself as a broad-based viewership sport “across the pond”, with weekly Fantasy teams being hotly contested, league fixtures taking place at Wembley each year – and even serious consideration being given to the creation of a permanent London NFL franchise.
Sport 888 identified this ever-growing interest in the league, subsequently becoming the official NFL sports betting partner for the NFL. To capitalise on this partnership, and on the strong weekly NFL activity across their UK & Ireland sports betting platforms, they launched the SportCaller Free-to-Play (FTP) game “10k Drive” for the 2021/22 NFL season.
This is the first SportCaller game for 888 Sport. It’s a predictor game, with users getting their weekly picks in before the first batch of NFL games kick off, at 1pm ET each Sunday. 10k Drive is tightly integrated into the 888 Sportsbook, and instead of offering simple win/lose prediction outcomes, the questions are geared to appeal to deeper fan knowledge of the upcoming fixtures. Some question-type examples are: “which team will cover the (points) spread?” or e.g., “will there be over or under 48.5 points scored in the New Orleans Saints vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers game?”.

The game offers a guaranteed weekly cash prize of £10k/€10k for 10 correct answers. Each question is called a “play” and there are 10 questions/plays per round. Answering all 10 correctly will drive you the length of the football field to scoop the 10k – with the pot being divided each week if there is no outright winner. Free bets are also offered in addition to the weekly prize, where eligible players receive a £/€1 Free Bet for every 7 predictions they get right throughout the 2021/22 NFL season. For example, a player who predicts 38 correct answers over the course of the season will receive a £/€5 Free Bet token.
Week-on-week player numbers are growing steadily as the NFL season ticks on – and are only likely to increase as we march towards Super Bowl LVI on Sunday, 13th February.
